Benjy and I were thrilled several weeks ago to discover we would be welcoming our fourth child into our crazy, chaotic, noisy home this winter. A few days ago, we were given the news that instead of another earth-baby, we now have another glory baby that we'll never get to hold or see this side of heaven. We are sad and disappointed, but at the same time thrilled beyond belief that we were blessed with another miracle. For years, we thought we would never have a child, and certainly not without medical intervention. The fact that we conceived another precious child is nothing short of God's grace poured out upon us. It is a miracle worthy of deep gratitude, even if we didn't get to keep it. We have named this little one, as we want to honor life, no matter how short. Selah Grace is now worshipping at the feet of Jesus with her siblings, and we will see them one day. Selah is Hebrew and means to measure carefully and denotes high value. Grace, of course, is God's unmerited favor in allowing us the chance to create a new life.
Goodbye, Selah Grace...until heaven.
